Overview

The content of this lecture is training on
indication
and location of DC ground faults in a normally ungrounded
      DC multi-feeder distribution system.

The lecture is design to provide the basic skills in
troubleshooting DC ground faults with the GFAL-A/B
       Method and Instrument

Includes theory of operation on the different types of

commercially available DC ground fault indicator and
locator instruments, their advantage and disadvantage.

                                  Classroom Training

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                                                  Objective of the training
At the conclusion of the training lecture, the participants will be able to

     *     Understand DC ground faults on ungrounded DC multi-feeder distribution systems

Understand multiple DC ground faults and indication methods

    *    A new method to find the value of the fault resistance from each polarity will be introduce

     *    Understand the operation and response of DC ground fault alarms

     *    Understand Spikes, AC contamination and "Phantom Earth Ground" on DC systems.

    *    Understand the difference between AC signal location methods and
interrupted DC tracking signal method to locate DC ground faults.

     *    To locate single and multiples ground faults in a DC multi-feeder distribution system

     *    How to maker a DC ground fault predictive maintenance program

     *     "Hands on"  field application of the GFAL-A/B ground fault locator instrument.

        Duration of lecture 2 days
                                                     (10) Hours of classroom instruction
                                                      (6)  Hours of hands on field testing
         Destination Group(s)
Electrical Engineers, Supervisors, Plant Maintenance, Test Technicians and Electricians.
